Fine dry weather during the whole of the week – the roads are very dry and are beginning to break up – macadamising cannot proceed but good progress made with sleeper tracks and bogged places. During week work was visited by Genl Maybury with Major Martin who seemed satisfied and pleased with work. Hear that my promotion (to Captain on 16th March) appeared in London Gazette for April 20th.
