There are no diary entries for this extended period for which there are no explanations.
Fine dry weather during the whole of the week – the roads are very dry and are beginning to break up – macadamising cannot proceed but good progress made with sleeper tracks and bogged places. During week work was visited by Genl Maybury with Major Martin who seemed satisfied and pleased with work. Hear that my promotion (to Captain on 16th March) appeared in London Gazette for April 20th.
The weather has gradually improved and progress has been made with the roof. The Company ha snow been made responsible for roads in Lucheux Humbercourt area which are in very bad condition.
