During this week have been very busy indeed – having the La Pradre reconstruction as well as the usual work in the left sector of the divisional sea – have been much worried too with the drainage trench from Kellett line. Lovette is a most interesting place and I have had very interesting talks with the gunner officers in the Ops there. Today came thro’ Noulette wood through the Chateau grounds. This must have been a very beautiful place – with its view through the avenue cut through the wood to the Bovigny hills and woods beyond. It is very sad to see such a beautiful place in ruins – the vines growing wild thro’ the iron framing of a vinery  which inside was overgrown with thistles and nettles – the lake at the side with a boat sunk in the middle – the drive and sweep at the front entrance all overgrown with grass and weeds.

It must have been a very elegant beautiful house.
