Heavy rain till midday – At 2 p.m. very heavy continuous firing commenced to the south of our sector – towards Arras – it is clearly intensive bombardment. From camp could see one of the batteries in action and also see German shells bursting.

Firing continued all the day. In the evening our sector started bombarding German lines but ceased after about half an hour – It was a splendid sight.
