Capt. Revell returned to Hersin. Lieut. Stewart who is a grandson of the late Mr. Nesfield of Bakewell, came up with orders that after handing over to him I was to report to No. 3. Field Co. The 101st Field Co. R.E. moved off in the evening – their officers are a very good lot – Major Connor – Lieut. Scott Henderson, a nephew of A.P. Shaw of Buxton – Lieut. Podmore of Sheffield, and Lieut. Shaw who was at one time in the R.N.D.E. At night went to trenches and handed over dug outs to Lieut. Stewart. We had a look at Suchez village – a perfect picture of desolation and waste.
