After lunch the Major planned out our work for us – After dinner, we left camp at 7.30 and the No. 3 Section started work in a length of the (unclear word) line – Forming up firesteps and traverses and preparing for revetment. Several stray bullets came over during the night but except for star shells, machine gun fire at intervals, and occasional gun fire the front was surprisingly quiet – We left work about 1.45 getting back to camp about 3. Had breakfast and went to bed in broad daylight.
