Padwick arranged concert which was a huge success. We had six guests to dinner and afterwards four or five officers came into the concert. Padwick’s parody ‘Any old thing will do‘ was exceedingly clever. Some of the singing was fine and the whole concert was a tremendous success. Afterwards in the mess we “carried on”. Hapburn of the Cyclists, who was in the Indian army previous to the war, told me he lives in Brixton, in Manchester Road, next house to Caxton Hall. He is a very nice chap indeed.
