To communion with Nixon and Beloe at 7a.m. to Hospital lines. Church Parade in Nelson square at 10. In afternoon went for ride with Molyneux. This is a great festival with the Greeks. At one village we saw the priest in a very gorgeous Greek gown with the crucifix at the head of a procession to be paraded around the village – men in the processions discharged guns en route – all the women dressed in their best followed.
At one village we saw the children carrying lighted tapers at the entrance to the Church.
All the villages were enfete and the streets were filled with the the natives were filled with the natives sitting and standing about in their best clothes.
In the evening all the officers after dinner attended a gramophone concert in one of the tents. It was a splendid instrument with the very best records -it was most enjoyable and the best concert I have been to of this kind.
